Out of the Loop!

It's been awhile since my last post....  SORRY!  I have been teaching teachers for the last two weeks and I can say that teaching teachers makes me so TIRED!  I have to say that I have meet some amazing teachers in the Memphis/Shelby County area and I hope that after their training they will be able to use Accountable Talk in their classrooms and use math task effectively this coming year.  I am working on some math tasks and will post them as soon as I finish editing them.

My newest master piece is finally up and posted on TPT.  Since I'm moving up to third next year I decided that I needed to find great things to use with all of the new stories that I would be reading.  Well I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for, so I created The Story Critic.  It is full of graphic organizers, flip books, and bunches of other activities to help make reading any book exciting and fun!  You can click on the picture to see the whole packet.  The first person that comments on this post will receive it for FREE.  Just leave me your email address and I will send it your way!

My Newest Freebie!

Hi Everyone!  Today was a stay at home and work on new things for next year.  One of the completed projects is a new addition to my freebies!  I love the game BUMP and so do my kids.  I found the game a few years ago and I have figured out how to use it with lots of different math concepts.  Once you teach the kids how to play, you can change up the skills by changing the numbers.  You can download it for FREE.  Just click on the picture!

Pinterest Has Some Great Ideas!

What did we ever do without Pinterest?  I have no idea.  I know as a teacher I used to spend hours looking through books to try and get new/fun ideas for my kids.  Now it takes me no time to search for an idea on Pinterest and find something I just LOVE!  One of the best things I have started doing is to put the actually Common Core number in as a search and it brings up things specifically for that standard.  Saves me lots of time!

Since Common Core is on all of our minds, I decided that I would start hosting a board just for Common Core Grades K-3.  I have found a bunch of other internet friends that help me pin on the board.  After just a little bit of time we have almost 1700 pins and 500 followers.  Please take a minute to check it out.  I'm sure you will find some great ideas to help enrich your classroom this year!

I love Graphs!

As the school year finally made an exit, I had a great TPT idea that I can't wait to use next year.  It has all different types of graphs and it is common core aligned.  It's got bar graphs, pictographs, circle graphs, spinner graphs, and anything else I could think the kids would enjoy.  You can click on the picture to take a look at it.

A New Theme! From Shining Stars to Safari!

I'm so glad to get back to blogging and start planning for my new classroom.  The school I'm moving to already has a Shining Stars, so I decided to go with a Safari!  Where did I turn to get ideas....  Pinterest of course!  I love Pinterest but crafty is not my best quality!  Here is a picture of the stool I'm trying to make for my classroom.  Now in a few days, we can compare them and see how I did.

A NEW START!

Let the journey BEGIN!

Around Christmas I started blogging as a happy second grade teacher and I started Smith's Shining STARS!  Who would have thought that just a few months later, I would be changing schools and moving on up to THIRD GRADE!  I am so excited to be moving to a new school and can't wait to tackle third grade!
